King Tissa
Kingdom of Upatissa Nuwara
454 BC - 437 BC

King Tissa was the second son of King Panduvasudeva. As King Abhaya protected his sister, Princess Unmadachitra, the other brothers joined forces to depose him and appoint Prince Tissa, the second son, as king.

He is recorded in history as a king who was never formally crowned. Therefore, many historians regard his period as one of political anarchy. As reliable information about his reign is unavailable, his name is omitted from the conventional succession of kings.

Nevertheless, historical accounts state that he was killed by Pandukabhaya, the son of his sister, Princess Unmadachitra.
