King Peetiya
Kingdom of Anuradhapura
459 AC - 459 AC

Although King Dathiya was killed by Prince Dhatusena, Dhatusena was still unable to immediately secure the throne. After Dathiya’s death, Prince Peethiya, the younger brother of King Pandu, arrived with an army and fought against Dhatusena. He defeated Dhatusena in battle and ascended to the throne. Some sources also describe Peethiya as the brother of King Dathiya.

However, his reign was also very short, lasting only about seven months. After several months of warfare, Prince Dhatusena defeated and killed King Peethiya as well. He then annihilated their Tamil army, bringing an end to over 27 years of Tamil rule, and finally ascended to the throne of Anuradhapura as the great King Dhatusena.
